The new year is just around the corner and for many people, New Year's resolutions too. In December, we indulged in a lot of feasting and focused on things other than health. But we want to feel fit and healthy for the new year. By aiming for self-care, we can establish a conscious lifestyle without putting ourselves under pressure.
To help you, we have a few tips and suggestions that can help you feel good in your body.
#1 A colorful plate
During the holidays we enjoy many hearty and often one-sided meals. With the new year we can bring more variety and diversity into our diet. Sometimes it helps to get a little inspiration from the fruit and vegetable section in the supermarket. Simply buy vegetables that haven't been on the menu for a long time or have never been on the menu and get inspiration from a few new recipes. The more colorful and varied your meals are, the more nutrients you absorb!
#2 Get moving
We often spend the days around Christmas and New Year on the sofa or at the dinner table. A little break is good for the body, but after the holidays we should get some exercise back into our daily routine. Often just a few minutes a day are enough to make you feel better. Go for a walk, run errands by bike or do a 15-minute home workout: it doesn't take much time to get your heart rate up. A few stretching exercises while watching TV are also good for our muscles.
#3 Break for the head
Just like our body, our mind needs periods of rest. Often we only notice how much we long for inner peace after stressful periods. To stop the carousel of thoughts, look for measures that allow you to relax and process what you have experienced. In addition to writing in a diary, doing puzzles, painting or meditating, long walks in nature can also act as a break for our mind. Try it out and take time for what really helps you relax.
#4 Get out of the habit trap
Are there unhealthy things in your everyday life that you do purely out of habit? Whether it's smoking, going to bed too late or eating too much sugar. We do a lot of things just because we're used to them. The New Year is the perfect opportunity to break the habit of doing things that aren't good for us. This could be, for example, quitting smoking, taking a healthy lunch to work, spending less time in front of a screen before going to sleep or reducing the amount of sugar in your coffee.
